Diaries, 1893, 1919, 1923, 1927-1928. Earlier diaries have more detailed, daily entries than later diaries. Of particular note is the boxing match between John Sullivan and "Gentleman Jim" Corbett (1893) with original illustrations. Chase noted the weather, family events, local news, farm work, celebrations, attending concerts, the Chicago World's Fair, and the mileage and cities he traveled to while working. The 1893 diary includes accounts while the 1927 diary includes miscellaneous newspaper clippings of Charles Lindbergh. A small photograph of Chase is pasted on the inside front cover of each diary except 1893.
